What is CBD?
We at Hempress are aware that CBD is becoming increasingly popular among the population of the Netherlands and the rest of Europe. CBD is currently used by millions of adults on a daily basis in Europe. Do you want to start with CBD, but are you not sure where to start and you looking for clear and honest information? For this, we have prepared this CBD User’s Guide to answer some of the most frequently asked questions.
Cannabis is a complex plant with over 400 chemical entities of which more than 100 of them are cannabinoid compound. The most commonly known compounds are delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) and cannabidiol (CBD).
Cannabidiol (CBD) is a non-psychoactive cannabinoid and it doesn’t cause a high like THC. It is recognized for its benefits and is capable of affecting nearly every biological process via the endocannabinoid system.
What do the different percentages mean?
When we are talking about the percentage of CBD, the figure refers to how many milligrams of CBD is contained within the oil. As the percentage increases, so too does the concentration. For example, in a 10 ml bottle of 2,5% CBD oil, you can expect around 200 drops, with each drop containing 1.25 mg of CBD. Our personal advice is:
1% – 2,5%: suitable for children and pets 2,5% – 25%: suitable for adults
However, we would likte to invite you to perform your own research on CBD to determine which benefts it could bring.
What is the ideal dose?
In truth it is very difficult to give a number indicating an ideal dose, it will be different for everyone. If you are new to CBD we recommend you start with a 5% CBD oil. This provides a nice middle-ground between weaker and stronger doses, and you can experiment with the recommended amount of drops per day. It is important that you never underestimate the therapeutic compound, and the effects it can have. It Is important to stress that everyone’s circumstances, and therefore the required dosage, will be different. Allow yourself several days on a regular dosage to see how you feel before increasing or decreasing the amount of CBD as necessary.
